Join a vibrant community of writers!

WriteGirl members are anyone who identifies as woman, girl, gender-expansive, trans, nonbinary or femme – no matter where you are on your journey and exploration of personal identity, all are welcome here.

If you are a teen girl or gender-expansive teen between the ages of 13 and 18, we welcome you to join WriteGirl. The program is FREE, and packed with fun, inspiring creative writing projects. Our season runs year-round and we welcome teens to join at any time! WriteGirl is based in Los Angeles, but teens can join us from anywhere in the world! While most WriteGirl workshops are online, we do offer some in-person events for our Los Angeles area members.

    Get inspired. Learn writing techniques from outstanding writers, including celebrities! Write with teens from all over the world. Held mostly on Saturdays and Wednesdays.

    In-Person Workshops in Los Angeles

    A few times a year, we offer in-person writing workshops at amazing locations in the LA area, such as The Autry museum or the Natural History Museum.

    Mentoring

    Get matched with a writing mentor to help you on a project or goal. Or request a weekly mentor to work with you on an ongoing basis.

Why Join WriteGirl?

Are you interested in exploring poetry, songs, screenplays, fiction and other kinds of creative writing? Would you like a writer who identifies as a woman or gender-expansive to mentor you and help you with your writing? If your answers are yes, then WriteGirl is the right place for you. What makes WriteGirl unique?

  • You don’t need to know anything about creative writing to be able to participate! We’ll help get you started!

  • WriteGirl creates new activities for all of our workshops, ensuring that you will have a completely fresh experience at every workshop throughout your time in the program.

  • WriteGirl workshops are non-competitive and all voices are celebrated in a totally supportive atmosphere.

  • We will never critique your writing at our workshops. We are here to inspire you in your writing and help ignite your creativity. Our workshops will provide you with tools and strategies to advance your writing skills!

Our monthly interactive workshops and one-on-one mentoring from writers will give you techniques, tools and tips to electrify your writing. You will be joining a growing community of writers where you can express yourself freely, share your ideas, expand your creativity and develop strong communication skills.
