“WriteGirl doesn’t just tell its girls their dreams are worth having … it shows them what it looks like when they come true."
— Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls, Parenthood)
WriteGirl workshops feature special guest writers who are invited to share their expertise and help our teens to see the greater impact their writing can have. Guests include local writers, musicians and performers who have a connection to the communities in which the majority of our mentees live. As we plan each of our workshops, we work with our local writing community to welcome a wide range of special guests from all walks of life to feature diverse voices and inclusive content that reflects the backgrounds and perspectives of our teens and introduces our members to new and exciting voices and creators.
At our annual Songwriting Workshop, GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriters perform lyrics on the spot, and at our annual Screenwriting and Comedy workshops, we Emmy-winning actors bring the teens' words to life in a thrilling performance showcase. Our alums often tell us that these performances are life-changing experiences.
